Welcome to the Mesa Greens!

Welcome to the Mesa Greens, a local group of the Green Party of Maricopa County, Arizona. We are currently working on a number of projects at the local and state levels. Please join us as we work toward creating a better world starting right here in Mesa.

We are always interested in City candidates. Please come to our meetings and let us get to know each other. Please note that Arizona Green Parties cannot support or endorse non-Green Party candidates. However, if you or your group is working on similar goals to ours, please contact us. We are interested in building strong coalitions with other east valley groups with common interests in peace and democracy.

We are exploring several possible solutions to problems here in Mesa, including expanded bus service and workers' cooperatives to revitalize rundown parts of our city. We are also involved in Ranked Choice Voting, ending all violence in the world, and reaching out to those hardest hit by inequalities in the system, including people in the Hispanic, Black, and GLBT communities.

If these or other local issues interest you, please join us. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays (see "Green Calendar" link on menu to the left) of each month. You can also stay in touch via our discussion board ("Green Talk," on the menu).

And, of course, join us for our bimonthly presentations. Information about these will appear on this page. You can also subscribe to our mailings by signing up, above left.

GREEN PARTY OF MARICOPA COUNTY (GPMC) TO PARTICIPATE IN NATIONWIDE DAY OF ACTION (MAY 30TH) FOR H.R.
Written by Green Party of Maricopa County Media Committee
Friday, 22 May 2009
Scottsdale, AZ—The Green Party of Maricopa County (GPMC) is organizing in support of H.R. 676 (the United States National Health Insurance Act). Thousands of supporters for single-payer healthcare will participate in a Nationwide Day of Action on Saturday, May 30th, 2009. Locally, single-payer activists will gather at 10:00am in front of the office of Arizona Congressman Harry Mitchell (7201 E. Camelback Rd., Scottsdale 85251). “Unlike Representatives Ed Pastor (CD 4) and Raul Grijalva (CD 7), Harry Mitchell has not signed on as a co-sponsor of H.R. 676. The time has come to change our inefficient and costly healthcare system”, says GPMC co-chair Angel Torres.
